These are our five top picks for you to buy products that are kinky yet fancy and makes your home looks right out of wonderland. They are absolutely desi and full of quirk.

1) Chumbak

“a little quirk is all we need” is their motto and there isn’t a single color that you won’t find on their website. Their products are so full of life and color and holds a little pinch of the desi flavor. Pretty famous all over the country. Although their production and office is based out in Bangalore, they have their shops in over 16-17 cities across the country and is one of the most loved (including me) and obsessed over brands. Our favorite pick from their brand are their cushions.

“whimsy, feminine, detail-oriented, splendiferous” these are few terms that they used to describe their products and they actually do apply well to them. Seven years into the business they have come a long way and they are still expanding in terms of range and production. Affordability and feminine charm are their key USP. Also based out in Bangalore they have stores in 3 cities but have an e-commerce website, where you can buy some really cool stuff. Though furnishing is their strong forte, I find their wall décor collection quite interesting.

3) India circus

India is their muse and all their products is an extension of it or in some way resemble its essence. Just like India their products are so diverse and has a little bit of magic in them. Hailed as contemporary chic and sophisticated designs with an Indian palette, they don’t let you down even a bit. It is every bit what you expect and much more. E-commerce is their primary retail outlet and their collection of lamps and lanterns inspired by the Mughal era is to die for.

4) The Purple turtles

“Collection, curation and creation” are the three word they swear. They strike the right balance between contemporary and antique. Transforming an antique piece into something contemporary yet not completely losing its root to antique is what their products are about. Their collection of lighting is pretty impressive given that their proprietor is the lighting designer too. They proudly boast the fact that ‘they make and not manufacture’ and isn’t that impressive as it make each one of the product as unique as the creator him/her self. Also based out on Bangalore, they have shops in major cities and also hosts an e-commerce website.

5) Maalgaadi

My second favorite of all, maal gaadi is an authentic creative concept store located in Chennai, Besant Nagar. Their products have the vibe to make any place come alive. They are so damn bright and vibrant that it feels like you have got lost in some sort of an alternate psychedelic universe. The stuff they hold are interesting, unique and what not. They don’t have a lot of options but what they have can’t be missed or replaced. I personally like their collection of art and accessory. They don’t offer a lot on their website, just an insight but boy visiting their store is definitely an experience.
