Movie houses that gives major goals! (PART 1)

Movies are a treat to watch, they entertain us, educate us and inspire us. While some gives us a roller coaster of emotions, the other help us relate with the characters but overall they are an altogether wonderful experience. But few movies’ leave a mark on us with its characters, story, locations, set works or even the houses of the leads. Given below are two of my favorite films with a beautifully designed house.

1) Personal Taste (Korean)

The whole movie plot revolves around this particular house and it is totally worth it. Renovated by master carpenter Chung Young-jin, it is a real-life guest house called ‘Rakgojae’ meaning a place to enjoy tradition and is a ‘Hanok’ which is what traditional Korean houses are called. It is a beautiful piece of architecture and you can actually visit this in real life.

The zing factors

  • Serene ambience, with lots of greenery and wood.
  • A very minimalistic approach, evenly panned out with a certain symmetry in spatial planning.
  • Contemporary approach in the court yards.
  • Enhancement of their Korean design, tradition and architecture.
  • Tall roofs smaller body of the building.
  • Embracement of nature.
  • Pitched roofing.
  • A small laid down leisure space. With its table on level with the footpath.
  • Cool color scheme.

2) Ki & Ka (Hindi)

Contradiction of gender roles pressured on the men and women of this society is what this film’s about. So what happens when a man wants to be a home-maker? I can assure you that we do get to witness a very quirky, personalized and interesting piece of house. The lead likes trains and his whole house has elements of it beautifully incorporated into it and they sure do look captivating.

The zing factors

  • The way the train theme has followed throughout the house.
  • Use of antiques in the most appealing way possible.
  • The metal arch like partition.
  • Industrialistic approach to support the train theme.
  • Folix dining chairs.
  • Recycling old wood and metal and metal work.
  • A personalized touch is all what a home needs to look this unique and charming.
